Language: English
Entrance fee: Gamemere €1,50. Mindbug Tournament €0,00
Playtime: 16:30h-23:00h
Prizes: €30 worth of Mindbug merch for the winner, runner-up and top 8 contestants.
Tournament deck: Mindbug Evolution
For this 1st Tournament no entrance fee will be asked to have as many people join in and experience Mindbug and the possibility to win prizes, all in good fun. (Future tournaments may hold bigger prizes, even topshelf boardgames, if the pool and enthusiasm is large enough).
Since each match only requires 20 cards, we will be using two decks to effectively play four 1v1 games with up to 8 players simultaneously to minimize downtime. Two groups will be sharing a deck and wait on each other shortly between rounds for proper shuffling. Depending on how many people sign up, I will determine the details of the format so we can enjoy ourselves fully and still have time left to play other boardgames.
Since this is the community's first introduction to Mindbug, please watch this 2:00 video on the basics of playing Mindbug so we can explain less and let the group play more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXUAhkzGPoQ
Registrations will close a week beforehand to finalize the preparations for first time contestants.
We will hold a very simple free for all format till a specified deadline, to just have people play as much as possible. Anyone can challenge anyone, if space allows. 1 Practice round can be requested per match, to not hog the game.. Serious rounds will be tallied by me. The top 4 performers will go to the play-offs and immediately enter the semi-finals to keep things short and sweet. Prizes will be handed out accordingly.
Note: This tournament will ask you to register to immediately qualify winners for bigger tournaments and championships for the ongoing July Season of Mindbug. Many who participate are still very new to the game, never played in tournaments and are just looking to have fun. So don't worry about it being too serious.
